Lake Kawaguchi is located in Yamanashi Prefecture, just about 1 hour 45 minutes from Shinjuku (Busta Shinjuku) by direct highway bus, with up to 49 buses per day and departures as frequent as every 10 minutes. It's one of the most accessible nature escapes from Japan's capital, and one of the most spectacular.

After a day on the water, stay the night and enjoy a traditional Japanese onsen with a view of Mt. Fuji, or head back to Tokyo in time for dinner. Either way, the journey is part of the experience.
